Cookie Policy

This policy explains how Sitemo uses cookies and similar technologies — such as local storage — on our website and in our product, and how you can control them.

It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.

A cookie is a small text file placed on your device by a website you visit. Cookies are widely used to make websites work, to remember your preferences, and to give site owners information about how their site is used. Similar technologies, such as local and session storage, do comparable things and are covered by this policy too.

We use cookies for the following purposes:

• Strictly necessary. To sign you in, keep you signed in as you move around the product, and protect against fraud and abuse. The service can't be provided without these.
• Preferences. To remember choices you make, so the product behaves the way you left it.
• Analytics. Where used, to understand how the product is used in aggregate so we can improve it. These are not used to build advertising profiles.

We don't use cookies for advertising or to track you across other websites. Where non-essential cookies require your consent under the law that applies to you, we'll ask for it before setting them, and you can change your mind at any time.

Some cookies are set by the service providers we rely on to run the product — for example authentication, hosting and payment providers. Those cookies are governed by the provider's own policies. The categories of provider we use are described in the Privacy Policy.

This policy covers Sitemo itself, not the sites our customers build and publish with it.

If you add a third-party feature to your own site — a booking system, a chat widget, an analytics or advertising snippet — it may set its own cookies on your visitors' devices. Disclosing that, and obtaining consent where it's required, is your responsibility as the site's owner. See the Terms of Service.

Every major browser lets you see the cookies stored on your device, delete them, and block them for particular sites — usually under Settings → Privacy. Browser help pages explain how for each browser.

Blocking cookies is your choice, but blocking the strictly necessary ones will stop parts of the product from working — in particular, you won't be able to stay signed in. Signing out clears your session cookie immediately.

We may update this policy when the cookies we use change. The "last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
